Food for thought to start the day

I found these wise words scribed on the John Lennon wall in Prague last fall and couldn't help but relate, as travel and the quest to know other cultures have been the most influential ventures in my life. Walking around the corner to meet this concrete screen, you feel the quiet presence of this montage—a compilation of peaceful, pleasant messages all emitting love and kindness. It feels romantic, timeless and eerie to lay down ink atop layers of other ideas and sentiments left by strangers, leaving your "mark," so to speak.

A beautiful thought conjured by a beautiful thinker.

"Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends."

From pen and pad to keyboard and blog.

I finally did it. Despite my hesitations and reservations regarding joining this odd cyber space, I am now officially, completely online. Wamp wamp. What can I say? I'm old fashioned. I love feeling the weight of paper under my palms, between my fingers. I am soothed by the scratching sound of a yellow number two pencil, and the faint carving noise of a fine ball-point pen as it meets the page.

Well, it was either get online or get lost.

So here I am.
